About Us
In February 1994, a ten-member group of Christians, displaced from another church within the city, decided to come together in prayer for the condition of that church and other concerns. This group became known as the Mesa Prayer Band and met every Tuesday at 7:00PM in the home of Deacon Roger Hester.
On August 19, 1994, the group was officially organized as Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church by Rev. Bernard Black, moderator of Zion Rest District Association adn REv. H.B. Randle, Pastor of Victory Baptist Church.
In December 1994, the property at 56 S. Robson was located and a purchase was made. Due to some environmental testing the building remained empty for a year and a half. In the meantime, Rev. Russell Baily was selected as the first Pastor and church was held in a building on South Horne near Southern Ave. in Mesa, Arizona.
On February 16, 1997, Shiloh moved into it's new building. Pastor Baily stepped down and another Pastoral search began. Various preachers filled in during this course of time. Then on August 31, 1997, the search was completed. Rev. Ottley W. Holmes, Jr. of South Mountain Baptist Church of Phoenix, Arizona was called to the Pastorate at Shiloh. Today, Shiloh has grown to a membership of 200 plus on record under Pastor Holmes.
Shiloh is aligned with the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America and the Southern Baptist Convention, where we strive to bridge the gap and become one in Christ Jesus.
